Background

About the ship

The second Deutschland-class ship, with different superstructure architecture and improved armor protection compared to the lead ship. During World War II, Admiral Scheer became the most successful German raider, sinking 17 merchant ships during her 1940–1941 Atlantic campaign. In 1942, the cruiser operated in Arctic waters, and in 1944, in the Baltic. In April 1945, Admiral Scheer was sunk in Kiel during an Allied air raid.
