Treat Credits as operating cash, Doubloons as premium currency, Coal and Steel as months of progress, and Free XP as a tool for painful stock modules.
Credits: budget for the ship and its equipment
The displayed ship price is only part of the cost. Add researched modules, upgrades, Commander, and service reserve.
Buying the next tier with nearly zero Credits forces a stock and poorly equipped ship.
- Keep enough for essential modules.
- Sell unused stock modules before ships.
- Rebuild reserves in reliable modes and missions.
Doubloons: impatience converted into spending
Set a purpose for Doubloons before spending them. XP conversion and random containers can consume them quickly.
Define a priority before spending.
- Avoid routine elite XP conversion.
- Do not chase ships through random containers.
- Compare cost with actual time saved.
Coal: daily income, monthly purchase
Coal comes from daily containers, missions, events, and modes. Official guidance notes that More Coal containers guarantee a minimum amount.
Ships, Commanders, upgrades, and collections compete for the same resource.
- Choose More Coal when pursuing an Armory ship.
- Know a collection's final reward.
- Save ship coupons for major purchases.
Steel and Research Points
Steel mainly comes from competitive modes and events. Converting it to Coal destroys a rarer resource.
Research Points require line resets and a mature economy.
Free XP and Commander XP
Free XP works best on painful stock hulls or fire-control modules, not entire ships.
A well-built 10–14 point Commander often adds more than a small tier increase.

Economic boosters
A large bonus multiplies a result; it does not create one. Use strong boosters on developed ships and reliable sessions.
Do not use them to rescue a stock ship or poor streak.

| Doubloons | Planned purchase | Impulse XP conversion |
| Coal | Compared ship or Commander | Scattered small purchases |
| Steel | Long-term target | Automatic Coal conversion |
| Free XP | Painful stock modules | Skipping whole lines |
