The costliest mistakes happen before the first shot: no exit route, isolation, exposed broadside, and climbing tiers too quickly. Fix exposure decisions before polishing aim.
1–3: sailing alone, blindly following, and having no exit
Solo routes create easy targets. Following the whole team to one edge abandons the map. Good positioning is neither lonely heroism nor an armored procession.
Choose an area where you can support allies, influence an objective, and reverse without turning broadside.
- Do not outrun your destroyer screen.
- Do not trap yourself against islands or map borders.
- Keep a reverse route or line-of-sight break.
4–6: broadside, stationary play, and blind pushes
Showing broadside for one extra turret often trades 20% more DPM for 80% of your HP. Sitting still in open water simplifies enemy aim.
Angle, vary speed before shells arrive, and wait for information before entering closed areas.

- Two living turrets beat three citadelled turrets.
- Change speed early.
- Track enemy destroyers, radars, and battleships.
7–9: wrong ammunition, constant target switching, ignoring destroyers
AP rewards broadside and penetrable armor; HE is reliable against angled targets and destroyers. Constant target switching prevents finishing ships.
A spotted destroyer almost always deserves a salvo because its remaining HP controls caps, spotting, and torpedo pressure.
- Preload for the likely target.
- Keep a target while it remains vulnerable and important.
- Do not wait for a perfect destroyer salvo.
10–12: ignoring score and objectives
Chasing a battleship to the border can inflate damage and lose the match. Charging a cap alone can do the same with fewer numbers.
Prioritize damage that removes threats, protects caps, or opens flanks.
- Watch score and remaining time.
- Defend an advantage.
- Do not cap without support or an exit.
13–15: rushing tiers, copying builds, selling ships
A build supports a play style and includes trade-offs. Higher tiers punish mistakes faster.
Selling every previous ship shrinks your fleet and future festive rewards.
- Understand each upgrade.
- Keep Credits to equip the new ship.
- Keep Tier V+ ships unless you have a precise reason.
Correction method
Select one observable mistake for ten battles and measure it.
Track one error across several battles: broadside exposure, isolation, target choice, or failure to disengage.
