Background

About the ship

A hypothetical design representing an alternative development concept for heavy cruisers at the time the Alaska class was being developed. During the interwar years, the U.S. Navy explored the use of 254 mm guns on cruisers, including in 1940, when countering potential "pocket battleships" was considered significant. The ship is armed with 127 mm triple-gun mounts for her secondary battery as developed for battleships in the 1930s.
