Returning to World of Warships in 2026? Do These 7 Things First
Before pressing Battle

First check whether your old account qualifies for returning-player rewards. Then review your settings, builds, economy and the lines you plan to play. Ten minutes of preparation is cheaper than relearning the game by donating three ships to the red team.

1. Check returning-player eligibility before playing

If your account has not played for at least 90 days, it can be eligible for the Recruiting Station as a returning Shipmate. Update 15.9 also has a separate temporary return pack after more than 60 days away.

2. Activate recruitment before your first battle back

For the returning-player route, sign in to the existing account, open the invitation and confirm eligibility before entering another battle.

3. Review your interface and minimap

Make sure alternative interface information, ship names, ranges and minimap circles are configured the way you need. If you last played years ago, several useful display options may be different.

4. Rebuild your Commander skills and upgrades

Do not assume an old build is still optimal. Use the Build Lab to test skills and upgrades while watching the ship statistics update live.

5. Check what your resources are worth now

Before spending Coal, Steel, Research Points, Free XP or Doubloons, review the current economy. A returning account often has a surprisingly valuable pile of currencies accumulated under older systems.

6. Pick one comfortable line instead of five

Use a familiar class for the first matches, then branch out. If you no longer know which ship or line suits your current preferences, the Ship Finder can rank Tech Tree, Coal, Steel and Research Bureau options by tier, class and playstyle.

7. Use the first battles as calibration, not a performance test

Start at a tier where you can think about detection, positioning and aim without also fighting unfamiliar high-tier mechanics. The goal is to rebuild habits, not prove anything in the first ten minutes.

A simple return route

Rewards first, settings second, build third, economy fourth, then battle. That order prevents the two most expensive returning-player mistakes: missing an eligible offer and spending old resources before understanding their current value.
